Local Menus ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our website at localmenus.appand our iOS application (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials (via email/password or Google Sign-In).
- Vendor information: If you register as a vendor, we collect your business name, address, phone number, hours of operation, menu content, and any photos you upload.
- Location data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location to show you nearby restaurants and menus. You can disable location access in your device settings at any time.
- Waitlist information: If you join our email waitlist, we collect your email address solely to notify you when the app becomes available.
- Usage data: We may collect anonymized data about how you interact with the Service, such as features used and session duration, to improve the product.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
- Display vendor menus and business information to consumers
- Send you updates about the app launch (waitlist only)
- Respond to your questions and support requests
- Improve and develop new features
- Comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.
How we store your information
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, which includes Firestore (database) and Firebase Storage (file storage). Firebase is a Google Cloud product subject to Google's security standards and infrastructure.
Vendor menu content that you publish is stored and displayed publicly at your unique URL (e.g., localmenus.app/your-restaurant). Only content you explicitly publish is made public.

- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Opt out of waitlist emails at any time by contacting us (we do not currently send marketing emails)

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (CPRA), grants you specific rights regarding your personal information. This section describes those rights and how to exercise them.
Categories of personal information we collect
In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information:
- Identifiers — name, email address, unique user ID
- Geolocation data — approximate location (with your permission)
- Commercial information — subscription plan and billing status (managed by Apple)
- Internet or network activity — anonymized usage data and app interactions
- Professional or employment-related information — business name, address, and hours (vendors only)
How we use and share personal information
We use personal information for the business purposes described in this policy. We do not sell personal information to third parties. We do not share personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose personal information to service providers (Firebase, Vercel, Apple) who assist us in operating the Service, under contracts that prohibit them from using the information for their own purposes.
Your CCPA rights
As a California resident you have the right to:
- Know — request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our business purpose for collecting it, and the third parties we share it with.
- Delete — request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Correct — request correction of inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Opt out of sale or sharing— we do not sell or share personal information, so no opt-out is required. If this practice changes, we will update this policy and provide a "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information" link.
- Limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not use sensitive personal information beyond what is necessary to provide the Service.
- Non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
To submit a verifiable consumer request, contact us at hello@localmenus.app with the subject line "California Privacy Request." We will respond within 45 days of receiving your request. You may designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf; we will require written proof of authorization.
Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
